JCF's Guide to Jewish Impact Investing

JLens

The JLens’ Jewish Advocacy Strategy is a values-based S&P 500 Index strategy that aligns with Jewish values and advocates for communal concerns in the Socially Responsible Investing and Corporate Social Responsibility movements. The Jewish Advocacy Strategy portfolio consists of approximately 300 companies selected based on negative screens and scoring for 6 Jewish values.

Annual fee: 0.23% per IMA

VanEck Vectors Israel ETF

VanEck Vectors Israel ETF (ISRA) seeks to replicate as closely as possible, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of the BlueStar Israel Global Index (BLSNTR), which is comprised of equity securities, which may include depositary receipts, of publicly traded companies that are generally considered to be Israeli companies.

Minimum investment: $5,000 ($25 transaction fee)
Annual fee: 0.62%

Israel Bonds

Israel Bonds are versatile securities that can be found in the portfolios of an impressive array of investors, including state and municipal governments, national and local unions, universities, foundations, corporations and financial institutions. Israel has never defaulted on payment of principal or interest. The Bonds organization has been a catalyst for Israel’s rapid evolution from a struggling agrarian nation to a global economic powerhouse and innovative wonder.

JCF offers two types of Israel Bonds:

MACCABEE ISRAEL BOND
Minimum Investment: $5,000 and increments of $500.
Lock-up: 2-year

JUBILEE ISRAEL BOND
Minimum Investment: $25,000 and increments of $5,000.
Lock-up: 2 years

Minimum fund balance may vary depending on the value a donor intends to invest in the JCF Israel Bonds and the general policy of JCF regarding liquid and illiquid prudent diversification investment percentages.

JCF-HFLS Social Impact Loan Program

The JCF-HFLS Social Impact Loan Program, an innovative partnership with Hebrew Free Loan Society, allows current and prospective JCF Fundholders with accounts of $100,000 or more to recommend that a portion of charitable assets go to interest-free loans to help lower-income borrowers get back on their feet financially or invest in a brighter future. When the two-year term is up, 100% of the loan amount will be returned to the Fundholder’s account to be granted out to charity or reinvested.

Minimum JCF Fund Balance to Participate: $100,000
Minimum loan size: $5,000 (with $5,000 increments)

JCF-Ogen Israel Impact Loan Program

The JCF-Ogen Israel Impact Loan Program offers JCF Fundholders the opportunity to maximize their social impact in Israel today in a way
that returns money to their fund for future grant-making and impact investing. Ogen provides affordable, life-changing loans and financial mentoring to low and middle-income Israelis, small businesses and not- for-profit organizations in Israel. Formerly the Israel Free Loan Association, Ogen has made more than 65,000 loans and lent more than $360 million since 1990.

Minimum impact loan: $250,000
Lock-up period: 5 years
